we are nowhere, and it's now

well, after a long hiatus and a lot of uncertainty, i have offically decided to return to blogging. however, i am shocked to discover that what i thought was a break of just a few weeks has in fact turned into a period of more than eight months. i was nowhere and it was now for so long that i lost track of time, i guess.

eerily, shortly after i began to type this, i noticed that i had a new comment on my one remaining post. donniella donnattello, i have no idea who you are, but never fear, my blog abandonment has ceased.

and now, here are two dramatic stories to officially resume my bloggerness:

dramz number one—clark e. goes to law school

clark will no doubt be claiming that his story gave me the guts to carry out my own saga, so i might as well humor him. after returning to california on the thirteenth (a thursday) from teaching english in guatemala, clark called to let me know that he would not be moving out to utah for law school that sunday as we'd previously discussed. instead, he informed me, he would be moving to pennsylvania to go to drexel, which started on monday. had he packed? no. did he know where he was living? not really. had he booked a flight yet? uh...he was working on it. but somehow it seems everything worked out, and despite the jet lag, he has now successfully completed his first week of law school in philidelphia.

dramz number two—emily gets her masters

over the summer, i decided that i wanted to teach school again, and i applied to a lot of different places. however, thanks to the lovely economy, old teachers are not retiring, the would-be jobs left by ones who actually have are not being filled, and candidate pools are huge. consequently, no job for emily. maybe i held out for a little too long without a plan b, because when monday rolled around and nearly all the elementary schools had started, i still had no idea what i was doing with my life. to make a long story short, some strings were pulled, and at about 2:30, i decided that i was going to get my esl endorsement and start working on my masters at weber state, and by 4:30 i was sitting in class. i didn’t exactly move from country to country then from state to state like clark did, but it was definitely enough spontaneity to last me for a while.
